As most of you know, I have delt with Axiety and various other issues since Emma was born. I have become comfortable accepting the fact that I have what one may refer to as a "mental illness" and others just may call "crazy" Whatever, it doesn't bother me anymore.
Now, one thing that DOES bother me is... let's not use names here.... Thru the grapevine, a friend of mine works with an other lady. This womans Father In Law tried to commit suicide this last weekend. Overdosed on pills, I am not sure what pills. Her comment to her coworkers after returning from her weekend!? "He ruined my plans. He just wants attention."
HOW DARE SHE!!! Does she not know how LUCKY they are to still have him? Yes, there is something wrong with him, but it is NOT something to complain about or poke fun at. Depression, and any other mental issue, is not a walk in the park. Having first hand experience with the ups and downs in moods, I know, it sucks. People do not go to therapists just to complain to someone, people do not have anxiety attacks for attention, and people do not KILL themselves for attention either. Left untreated, depression can kill you faster than cancer. This is not a joke.
People need to become aware of mental illness bc if they aren't strucken with it someday, then someone they love will be. And it only makes it more easy on us 'crazies' if you would pull your head out of your ass and find out what depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar, etc REALLY is before you point a finger and laugh or judge. It just might have been YOUR fault this person has ended up in this situation.
Do we laugh at the blind? People with cancer or diabetes? NO. Mental illness is a disease, not a joke.
Thanks for reading the rant from me, the crazy one, haha.
